Children: "The Wyckoff Family in America" 3rd Edition page 84.

From a news article found at the Greene County Historical Society: The Wyckoff family - the spelling was changed to Waychoff in Greene County - were of Viking origins. Centuries ago they left the Viking country of Northern Europe and settled in the Netherlands. The name there was Claesen. It was changed [while in New York] to Wyckoff which meant Magistrate.
Jacob Waychoff's estate - Vol. IV 489-491

The following is taken from the Woodward-Waychoff family web site.

Jacob and his wife, Nancy Bonar, had 12 children.
In the 1880 census we find that his son listed his father's place of birth as Maryland, so we can now fix the location.
From Howard Hickman III, a great, great grandson, writing a letter to cousins in July, 1996: "Around 1815, Jacob Wyckoff and some of this brothers migrated to the area near Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He was a descendant of the immigrant Pieter Clausen Wyckoff. In Greene County, PA, they changed the spelling of their name from 'Wyckoff' to 'Waychoff.' Thus, nearly all 'Waychoffs' can trace their ancestry directly back to the Waychoffs of Greene County, PA."

From the 1880 census her son, Jackson, lists his mother's place of birth as PA so we can now fix the location.
Her family, the Bonars, are related to the Buchanans and we believe are the family from which President James Buchanan is derived. We have yet to get this established. (DBW 2002)
